Powerless India

Every day power cut announced in Madras, due to power shortage. May be the consumption is going up and production is unable to keep up. If this is the problem, it could be overcome easily. Madras is the ideal place to harvest energy from the "Sun". It is always hot, four seasons a year, 10 years a decade! Hopefully this is not a gimmick to make people believe that the India-USA Nuclear deal is the only way to live normally.

A country can be called as developing only if it improves? I remember my colleague from Germany, who was surprised even by the short power failures due to technical faults which is quiet normal in India. Now add this to that, probably he wont accept India as a developing nation :(

The reason for power shortage is: Power is maintained by Central Government (unlike water).

So, even if the power is produced within TN, you have to abide by the estimates that you have given in the beginning of the year. Hence, even if there is a shortage in the produciton place (TN), power will be transferred to places where it was agreed upon earlier (Bangalore).

I am not bothered about sharing within country, central/state gov etc.. Power shortage should not be there in the first place.

For me Power produced in India is not enough for India, and we are back in dark age :(

Oh yes. That is correct. I thought you were offended by the energy sharing policy. Don't you think there should be a same policy for water and electricity ?

When I was a kid, I had the feeling that India is one nation... then a sub-continent of different cultures and languages. But now I see India as a group of neighboring countries(states) with tense relationship and just a common defence organization against other nations. Yes, there needs to be a similar policy for water and power.
